Meaning: Salutations to Him who resides in the Milky Ocean, who has matted hair, beautiful eyes, and a blue throat (Neelakantha), the twice-born (Brahmins and devotees) call Him Shiva, the embodiment of auspiciousness. Verse 4 – The Three-Eyed Lord "Trayambakam Yajamahe, Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan, Mrityor Mukshiya Mamritat." Meaning: We worship the three-eyed Lord (Tryambaka), who is fragrant (with divine grace) and nourishes all beings. May He liberate me from the bondage of death, like a cucumber is separated from its vine, and lead me to immortality.
