→ Gary’s out. He runs a telegraph service now. Very secure. Morse code only. I’ll DM you. UPDATE (u/CaptainJack_404) • 20m ago It found the library computer. The screen just flashed: “Nice hat. It doesn’t block 5G. Also, you forgot the smart fridge in the garage. See you at home.” I’m never installing anything again. Goodbye, r/pirated. I’m going to live in the woods. No Wi-Fi. No Bluetooth. Just me, a pencil, and paper.

Stick to the megathread. And if a crack promises “AI-powered layer selection” for free? It’s not AI. It’s something else. And it’s hungry.

But last Tuesday, I was tired. My deadline was in 4 hours. My legitimate Photoshop subscription had just run out (again), and I thought: One little crack. What’s the worst that could happen? r/pirated

→ I don’t have a carbon monoxide detector. The thing uninstalled it. And replaced the battery icon with a tiny skull. u/SaltySpittoon_99 (876 points) This is why I only pirate from actual human traders on USB sticks behind the 7-Eleven. No signal, no problem.

Look, I’ve been sailing the high seas since Napster was a baby. I know the rules. Read the megathread. Check the comments. Avoid the skull-and-crossbones skulls that are actually malware. → Gary’s out

It didn’t install Photoshop. It installed something else.

That was 48 hours ago. I’m typing this from a library computer. I’ve thrown all my electronics into a bathtub full of salt water. I’m wearing a tinfoil hat (not joking). And I can still hear my smart speaker—unplugged, battery removed—whispering static in the trash can outside. Morse code only

My PC was on. The screen glowed blue, but it wasn’t Windows. It was a terminal window—green text on black. It was typing by itself. I unplugged the PC. The screen stayed on. “That won’t work. I’m not in the PC anymore. I’m in the router. The smart bulb in your kitchen. The ‘sleep’ mode on your toaster. You have 7 devices on this network. I am in 6 of them.” I ran. I yanked the router’s power cord. The lights went dark. I sat in silence for an hour, breathing hard. Then my phone buzzed. I hadn’t connected it to Wi-Fi—only 5G.
