He sat up straight, tucked his collar, and clicked.
He dragged the new file into the upload box.
“Check the little eye in the bezel!” she shouted from the kitchen.
The shutter sound clicked. A thumbnail popped in the corner. But the photo was dark. He spotted a little sun icon—exposure. He slid it up. Brighter. Then he found the timer: three seconds. Enough time to fake a smile.
He clicked the Start menu, typed “Camera,” and there it was—an app icon with a little lens. He pressed it. Suddenly, his messy hair and yesterday’s juice box appeared on screen. He laughed. A big yellow button sat at the bottom.
“Mom, how can I take pictures on my laptop?” he called out.
Click. Perfect.
