Just finished my annual rewatch of (OpenH264 encode – because sometimes you need that crisp balance of file size and battle scene clarity).
If you’re grabbing the OpenH264 release, the encode is solid – no macroblocking during the snow scenes at the Wall, and the night shots of Meereen are actually watchable. Respect to the scene. game of thrones season 06 openh264

Say what you want about the later seasons, but Season 6 is an absolute masterpiece of payoff:
🔹 – Still the most visceral 20 minutes of television ever filmed. (And yes, OpenH264 handles the chaos of cavalry charges surprisingly well.) 🔹 “The Winds of Winter” – The first 10 minutes (Cersei + wildfire + piano) is a cinematic gut punch. The H.264 compression holds every single tear and explosion. 🔹 Jon Snow’s resurrection – “I did warn you not to trust me.” 🔹 Hodor. 🥺 Still too soon.
