While Hindi cinema enjoys cult status in post-communist Albania and Kosovo (due to historical resonance and aesthetic parallels), the linguistic barrier has traditionally limited viewership. Using netnography of Facebook groups and subtitle-sharing forums (e.g., TitraShqip, Subtitle.al), this study analyzes translation strategies, lexical gaps, and cultural mediation. Findings reveal three key trends: (1) pragmatic domestication of Indian cultural concepts (e.g., sindoor , rakhi ) using Albanian equivalents; (2) code-switching as a marker of fandom; and (3) the role of crowdsourced subtitles in fostering transnational Balkan-South Asian solidarity.
