The Blue Sock Incident of Tuesday, 7:14 PM, began like any other. Elara stood in the hallway, barefoot except for the single blue sock on her left foot. Her brown hair was a bird's nest of concentration. Her younger brother, Leo, age seven, tried to sneak past with a handful of stolen cookies.
