Change Icons On Desktop May 2026

On the new desktop shortcut, follow Part 1 above to change its icon. Part 3: Change System Icons (This PC, Recycle Bin, Network) This method changes the main icons Windows places on your desktop by default. For Windows 11: Step 1: Right-click an empty area of your desktop and select Personalization .

Right-click the icon → Properties → Change Icon... → Select the first/default icon → OK . change icons on desktop

Go to Desktop Icon Settings (see Part 3) → Click Restore Default → OK . On the new desktop shortcut, follow Part 1

In the left sidebar, click Themes .

Under "Related settings," click Desktop icon settings . Right-click the icon → Properties → Change Icon

Click Themes (on the right side of the settings window).

In the new window, select the icon you want to change (e.g., Recycle Bin (full) ).
