Directions are clinical, not erotic. A director might say: "Pause at 2:10 for a hip-angle CU. Reset to missionary at 3:00. After the cut, we'll pick up with over-the-shoulder OTS on her left." Euphemisms waste time. Clear technical language saves it.
A typical four-scene day might be scheduled for 10–12 hours. If Scene 2 runs long, Scene 4 gets cut. Directors constantly calculate trade-offs: "Do we need that third insert shot, or do we protect the final scene's setup?" Most AV directors are freelancers. A good month might bring five shoots; a bad month, none. Residuals are rare—most are paid a flat day rate ($800–$2,500 depending on experience and market) plus post-production fees. Directions are clinical, not erotic
