Go to Windows Sound Settings > Sound Control Panel (Old panel) > Playback tab. Right-click your Audiobox > Properties > Advanced. Make sure the Default Format matches what your DAW is set to (usually 24 bit, 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz).
In that same Advanced tab, UNCHECK "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device." This prevents YouTube from crashing your DAW. Legacy Warning: Audiobox 1818VSL and FireWire If you have an older Audiobox 1818VSL , you might be chasing a ghost. Presonus has removed the legacy VSL mixer drivers from newer Universal Control versions. You may need to download the specific "Audiobox VSL Series Driver" from the "Legacy Products" section of their website. And if you are on Windows 11 with an old 1818VSL... you may need to consider upgrading your hardware. The Final Verdict Don't throw your Audiobox against the wall just yet. 99% of "dead interface" problems are solved by downloading Universal Control (not just the raw driver) and following the install-then-plug sequence.
Head to Presonus.com > Support > Product Downloads. Don't trust the third-party sites.
Unplug the USB cable from the back of the Audiobox. Wait 10 seconds. Plug it back in. (Do not use a USB hub; plug directly into the motherboard on the back of your PC).
If you are reading this, chances are you just plugged in your Presonus Audiobox USB interface, opened your DAW, and... nothing. No input. No output. Just the dreaded blinking light of doom.
Get the driver, set your buffer, and get back to making music.
